COVID-19 Vaccinations

It’s incredibly exciting that our Primary Care Network (PCN) has been chosen to be a Wave 2 site for the delivery of the Covid-19 vaccine. This means that from the end of this week, our practice, as well as North Harbour Medical Group and Kirklands Surgery are going to start giving the vaccine to our most at risk patients.

We are currently contacting these patients by phone to arrange an appointment. Please do not telephone us as we need to do this in the correct order of risk. Calling us will also block our phone lines for patients who are trying to call with a medical need.

The first group is patients over 80. We won’t be able to do all of this group in the first week, so if we don’t get hold of you (or your loved one) in the next few days, please don’t worry you won’t be missed!

We don’t yet know when our next delivery will be, it could be after Christmas, but we will keep you updated via our website and on our Facebook page. We are not able to give the vaccine opportunistically as we won’t hold the vaccine at the practice: the clinics are run from a central site at Cosham Health Centre.

We would ask that if you have been given an appointment, you follow the instructions you’re given, including:

  • Make sure you go to the right practice
  • Wear a mask where you are able
  • Let us know if you’ve had any previously serious allergic reactions
  • Don’t arrive too early for your appointment as the car park will be extremely busy
  • Please let us know if you have any Covid symptoms prior to your appointment and we will rearrange it

You will need a second vaccine 21 days later and we will arrange that at the same time as arranging your first. It’s been lovely making the phone calls to patients who have been holding out for this vaccine, and hearing the joy in their voices as they see there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Please persevere with the current Tier restrictions for a bit longer so we can keep our vulnerable loved ones safe.
