Overseas visitors who require “emergency medical treatment” are entitled to free medical care whether or not they are resident in this country.
However, we are not required to provide non-emergency /routine / ongoing treatment for these visitors and, if accepted, a fee will be charged if appropriate.
Our Nurse Practitioners run our acute service as often an appointment to see the doctor is not absolutely necessary.
We have 9 Nurse Practitioners who are all highly trained and are able to deal with a wide range of problems.
Please ask the receptionist if you have a particular issue and they will advise you whether one of the Nurse Practitioners can help; we do have both Male and Female Nurse Practitioners available.
All of the Nurse Practitioners are also able to issue prescriptions for medication.
If the Nurse Practitioner cannot deal with your particular problem they can access the Duty Doctor if it is appropriate.
We provide a confidential service to all our patients, including under 16s.
You can request to see a Doctor on your own (or with a friend) as long as you are capable of understanding the treatment the Doctor feels is necessary.
This means that while you can tell others about this visit, we won’t.
We are here to listen, not to tell
The only reason why we might have to consider passing on confidential information, without your permission, would be to protect you or someone else from very serious harm. We would always try to discuss this with you first.
