Routine Appointments
Our clinics normally operate on weekdays between 8.30 to 11.00am. Routine morning appointments can be booked up to four weeks in advance as well as on the day from 8.00am subject to availability. Afternoon clinics generally run from 3.30 to 5.30pm. These appointments can be also be booked up to four weeks in advance and on the day, subject to availability.
We also run surgeries on a number of Saturdays each month and appointments will be made available up to 14 days in advance for each of these session. Please ask at reception for more details. Patients attending for appointments on Saturdays will need to book themselves in using the automated screen opposite the reception desk. The Doctor will then call patients in using the Television Screen in the main waiting area.
PLEASE NOTE: It is NOT be possible to request or collect repeat prescriptions on Saturday mornings.
We are now able to send a text reminder to your mobile phone for any booked appointment IF we have your number so please make sure you let us have your mobile number as soon as possible.
Remember: if you cannot keep an appointment please let us know.
Often an appointment to see the doctor is not absolutely necessary. Our nurses are highly trained and are more than capable of performing routine checks for blood pressure, HRT, pill repeats etc in their clinics. Also, we run a system to deal with repeat prescriptions including replenishment of drugs on release from hospital. Many minor illnesses can easily be dealt with at home.
Triage Clinic / Nurse Led Minor Illness Clinics
These clinics provide a five minute consultation for one problem. These clinics operate each weekday morning. Patients are requested to telephone the surgery to access these clinics - you will be given an attendance time and you may have to wait longer than usual to be seen. These clinics are not appropriate for longstanding or ongoing conditions - please do not abuse this valuable service.
The sessions are run one of the doctors (on a rota basis) and a highly qualified triage nurse who has been trained to deal with a wide range of problems.
The nurse may refer you to the Triage Doctor if she feels it is appropriate. You will be called in order of arrival, unless clinical necessity dictates otherwise. Due to its popularity, a considerable wait will often be unavoidable.
Urgent Appointments
Every day there are times allocated for urgent appointments which are filled on the same day only. If your problem cannot wait until the next routine appointment you will be seen at these times. Please remember the times you are given for appointments are approximate, as some problems do take longer to deal with and delays often occur. The doctor could also be called out of surgery on emergency visits.
